Batman Arkham Knight launching later this year

A return to Gotham City will be happening in the next generation, after Warner Bros revealed another expansion into the Batman video game series, named Arkham Knight, developed in cooperation with Rocksteady Studios, the team behind Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Details on Batman Arkham Knight are scarce at the moment, but we do know Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow and Harley Quinn will all appear in the game as villains. Nothing on the plot, although the teaser did heavily suggest something to do with Batman’s father.

The Batmobile will be rideable on Arkham Knight, a first for the series. Rocksteady Studios said they have been developing a custom Batmobile to drive around Gotham City, fighting crime. This does suggest the new video game will be free roam and not generated levels.

This is the return of Rocksteady Studios to the franchise, after Arkham Origins failed to live up to expectations and was seen as the worst in the franchise, we believe Warner Bros picked up the development studio for what is apparently the last game in the series.

Arkham Knight will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One. No word on last generation hardware, we suspect Rocksteady Studios are shooting for the all-important 60fps and 1080p and will not be able to do this on the latest Batman game with older hardware.

It is one of the first video games coming in 2014 to be exclusively for the PS4 and Xbox One, along with the PC. We want to see what graphical improvements the studio can bring, now they do not have to scale down the game for older hardware.
