Microsoft Announces Halo 5: Guardians for 2015 launch

on

Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced the fifth expansion into the Halo universe, named Halo 5: Guardians, the new game will be the first Xbox One exclusive and should be coming in 2015.

We did get a small teaser of Halo 5 at E3 last year, but nothing really exciting, just showing Master Chief in a hood in a desert region. This lack of knowledge still applies, the Halo team didn’t announce much about plot.

One of the major announcements about Halo 5: Guardians is the fact they are making a new engine for the game and it will take all of the Xbox One’s power into account. The game will be a scale up from Halo 4 and 343 are working hard to make the game bigger and better than any previous Halo game.

Halo certainty is one of the most loved franchises on Xbox and this could be the game to ship millions of Xbox One’s, to people who love Halo but haven’t necessarily seen anything they would want to try on Xbox One so far.

The Halo 5: Guardians release will come alongside the new Steven Spielberg Halo television series, set to be airing on Xbox’s streaming service and other channels in 2015.

Microsoft is keen to get their own IP out into the Xbox One ecosystem, considering the low amount of exclusive titles for either console, thing like Halo could really be a game-changer for consumers choosing between the PS4 or Xbox One.

The single-player will be a big focus of the game, like it has been in almost every expansion, but we believe multiplayer has to be bigger than it has in previous games and really offer some unique experiences, new to the Halo series.

Content created by players and new experiences are crucial, we might even see a Halo app for people playing on tablets, to enter a game with friends on Xbox One and play as a fighter jet or something else.

No news on exactly when the game is coming, but Halo 5: Guardians should be shown off at E3 this year.
