The body needs constant physical activity and a daily dose of essential nutrients to stay healthy. Unfortunately, a large number of individuals does not attend to their health as they should and end up with numerous health problems. One of the most common problems that people face when leading an unhealthy lifestyle is excess weight, which can make them overweight or obese. Obesity is considered a negative health condition and has direct impacts on the human body’s health. Medical News Today explains that a person is considered obese when their BMI (Body Mass Index) reaches 30 or higher, which means the specific individual’s body weight is 20% (or more) higher than what is considered normal for their body.

Weight problems are an issue for many people all over the world. Data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that as much as 37.9% of adults in the United States are obese. They also report that only 29.3% of adults in the country are actually not considered either overweight or obese. The statistics are also alarming for children, with as much as 20.6% of teenagers between the ages of 12 and 19 reported to be obese. Among children who are between the ages of six and 11, a total of 17.4% are reported to be obese and 9.4% of children between the ages of two to five are also facing obesity.

Most Common Causes of Obesity

While we know that a generally unhealthy lifestyle can lead to obesity, it is important to know that there is a range of other conditions that may also lead to excess fat accumulating in the human body, thus also leading to obesity. NHS Choices report that the most obvious cause is poor diet – eating too much processed foods, drinking a large amount of alcohol, eating too many fried foods and drinking a lot of sugary drinks. They also report that other causes have been detected and may include:

  • Genetics – Certain genetic conditions, such as Prader-Willi syndrome, can make it more difficult for individuals to lose weight. While these conditions are real, they are very rare and can still be overcome with an active and healthy lifestyle.
  • Medical Conditions – Some specific types of medical conditions have also been associated with excessive weight gain. The most common medical conditions that cause this problem is reported to include hypothyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome. These conditions can, in fact, be diagnosed and treated to reduce their effects on a person’s weight management.

Complications of Obesity

Health Conditions

Having too much fat in the body does not only affect a person’s appearance but can also bring along numerous unpleasant health conditions and even enhance the risk of developing certain diseases. One of the most dreadful health effects of obesity is the negative impact it has on the heart. With excess fat, the heart needs to work much harder to get blood towards the different parts of the body, thus putting a lot of unnecessary pressure on the person’s heart. The United States Department of Health & Human Services reports that coronary heart disease is often a result of obesity. This condition causes plague to build up in coronary arteries, which reduces the amount of blood that flows towards the individual’s heart muscle.

Stanford Healthcare reports that numerous other health conditions can develop with obesity, including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Increased risk of having a heart attack
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sleep apnea
  • Increased risk of breast, colon, prostate, uterus and gallbladder cancer
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Self-esteem problems

Hypnosis As A Weight Loss Option

Weight Loss Option

While many treatment options are available to help people lose weight, such as diet plans, diet pills and surgical options; it is important to realize that many of these often comes with negative side-effects that may also harm the human body. For this reason, many professional dieticians simply recommend eating a balanced diet that includes healthy food and frequently scheduling time for physical exercise.

Another option that many people are quite wary of is hypnosis. Hypnosis has been used for centuries to target a large variety of health conditions – both physical and psychological conditions. Hypnosis works by reprogramming a person’s subconscious – as we are unable to always properly adjust our conscious due to the way our subconscious has been programmed, tapping directly into our subconscious mind may often be the perfect solution to overcoming various obstacles.

Expert Beacon explains that hypnosis for weight loss works by reprogramming the part of the mind that has a direct impact on how a person eats. By tapping into this part of the mind, hypnosis is able to help reverse food addictions, reduce cravings and help an individual improve their weight management efforts.
