There is a new pill that can help a person to lose between 20 and 30 pounds after a few months without having to undergo surgical processes. However, it is not yet available for use for the Americans.
Ora Verduzco of San Diego, California wants to shed off 30 pounds. Despite trying diets for a couple of years, she loses and gains weight.
Since she is not notably obese, she doesn’t qualify for a weight loss surgery. Her aim is to shed more weight.
She said that she doesn’t rush to attempt anything, but acknowledged that she can lose weight with some gimmicks out there.
She spotted Obalon on YouTube which is made in San Diego and probably it is the first weight loss balloon for obese and overweight people.
You can obtain it from any other place but not in the U.S.
It is administered by Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana, Mexico, where Verduzco made a tour.
In reference to Dr. Ortiz, they have been searching for a similar weight loss approach to gastric surgery, adding that they are obtaining results in three to four months.
Verduzco swallowed a pill that was attached to a string. Once it is the stomach, it was inflated with the touch of a button.
In reference to Dr. Ortiz, many patients who swallow the pill and get inflated tell of feeling satisfied at once.
The stomach becomes accustomed to the balloon after 3 weeks, and you pop in another pill. In four months, you can have up to three balloons.
Through the use of an app, a patient can log what s/he has eaten.
From their clinics, doctors can tell what a patient has consumed.
According to Verduzco, it is like carrying with your nutritionist throughout the day.
If you overeat, you become sick, and this is why some critics are worried about the possibility of the device to rapture the stomach or cause blockages.
Dr. Ortiz said that the worst scenario that they can worst fear is that the balloon deflates in the stomach which mean it would move in to the toilet.
At the clinic where Verduzco got, Obalon it is trading at between $3,000 and $4,000. She said that was one oh her struggles to obtain it.
She added that the rest was you and the commitment you make to eat health diets.
While doctors are saying that this could be another great approach to weight loss, Dr. Ortiz is getting hundreds of requests every week.
Obalon is approved in Europe and Mexico but it is still under clinical test by FDA in the U.S.
