A lot of couples get married and split up in Hollywood, but when George Clooney finally gets engaged, everyone loses their minds.
News about celebrities splitting up after a short period of marriage or after a long and wonderful marriage is very normal in Hollywood. One of the most constant things when it comes to Hollywood relationships is George Clooney’s bachelor status.
It seems like the world is changing, because there are reports of George Clooney finally getting married.
The 52-year-old Oscar winning actor got engaged to 36 year old Amai Alamuddin, who is a British human rights lawyer. The two started dating just last fall. Reports came in that they were spotted in Seychelles, Tanzania, New York and London.
According to reports, Alamuddin has a giant glittering rock in her left ring finger during the couple’s diner in Malibu, California last Thursday with Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.
The Beirut-born Alamuddin got her education in Oxford and NYU and she can speak three different languages fluently. Alamuddin is Clooney’s first non-Hollywood girlfriend for a long time.
Being a Hollywood star might be the only difference between the two since being a human rights advocate is in their essence. Alamuddin focuses on international human rights law, while Clooney is a strong advocate for the less privileged refugees of Darfur.
Clooney’s publicist Stan Rosenfield did not confirm if the actor is really getting married. Rosenfield said he doesn’t comment on Clooney’s personal life.
George Clooney was married for a little while way back in 1989 to 1993 to Talia Balsam. The couple separated when Clooney achieved A-list status after being part of NBC’s hit show ER. After that split, Clooney became a devout monogamist with a series of relationships among different women every couple of years. That string of relationships and his monogamy might be ended by his reported engagement with Alamuddin.
