Model Sarah Stage is eight-and-a-half-month pregnant but her belly is so tiny that it’s now causing a social media uproar. Sarah, a 30-year old model has been posting pictures on Instagram showing off her pregnancy. What is surprising many is that her belly is so tiny, it doesn’t look like she’s just a few weeks away from delivery, her abs have remained toned and sleek.
As many would be expecting, an eight-and-a-half-month pregnancy should be protruding, but not with Sarah, her tummy is almost flat. In fact her over 1 million fans on Instagram are vocally divided on whether she looks famished or fit. One admirer commented of a modeling shot depicting Stage in lingerie: “Check this out, almost nine months pregnant and look at that tummy!!”
Some also posted negative comments with other asking where the baby was hiding at, “Definitely not het her tummy”, one quipped. Some also raised concerns that she might be harming the bay and should therefore seek medical attention. However, medical expert say Sarah is exactly where she needs to be at this stage in her pregnancy.
Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a practicing obstetrician and ABC News medical contributor said that Stage is tall, slim and young, and that the pregnancy is her first baby so she has all that going for her. “She has gained the appropriate amount of weight for this point in her pregnancy and seems very healthy,” said Dr. Jennifer Ashton.
Sarah has posted saying she has gained approximately 18 pounds during her pregnancy so far, and Ashton says this is considered normal and healthy.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, women are expected to gain between 20 and 40 pounds throughout their pregnancy. So, according to Ashton, Sarah will probably gain about half a pound every week from here on and her bump will definitely grow larger in the coming weeks.
Ashton supports Sarah in her regular exercise routine, which can be seen on the model’s regular postings. The 30-year-old model from Los Angeles says she has modified her workouts for pregnancy and is careful not to push her heart rate up too high during cardio sessions.
Apart from her busy social media feeds, Sarah has a website where she has been blogging about her maternity journey. The model has also designed a line of maternity clothes for the retail site Want My Look.
