If you want to fly like a rock star, you don’t have to ball like a rock star. For only $500, you can experience flying on private jets just like big celebrities do.
For a flight that usually charges $6,500 per flight, this is a dream come true.
However, these opportunities only come by once a month and the flight you have to pay is a trip that you have to take the next day.
You have to be on a look out for deals called “empty legs”. This refers to flights of private jets that are out of schedule and out of place. To make up for the pilot fees and gas expenses, the private jets offer flights from one place to another on a much lower cost. For example, the jet’s owner needed to be in Chicago but the jet is parked at Las Vegas. That’s where regular passengers come in.
For flights up to 500 miles, it may cost you $500. For flights that go beyond 500 and reach 1000 miles, it will cost you $1,000. Anything further would cost you $1,500 plus a federal tax that is 7.5%.
You cab find deals like these on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media websites. You will enjoy four seat flight with baggage services. You can also invite your friends and family members and fly all four for one price.
The catch
You may be able to fly like a rock star but the transportation from one airfield to their destination is the biggest challenge. Not every airfield offer car services to people who take the empty leg flights.
Not all charter operators offer the same rate. One charges $6,386 for a six-seat flight from Bristol to Mallorca. However, the usual rate for these flights would cost a person $16,000.
Other than that, there’s also that issue of safety. Private jets are definitely more luxurious but they are not subject to the same level of regulation like commercial flights.
