Modern Day Spinoffs Bring Fairy Tale Princesses Back to Life

It seems like fairy tale has come to life with the beautiful parade of Disney inspired gowns worn by today’s hottest young female celebrities.

The elegance of the dreamy gowns and dresses that once evoked collective gasps away from young girls are transformed into reality when Hollywood’s young princesses such as Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez, Lupita Nyong’o, and Elle Fanning strutted Disney styles on the red carpet.

Lupita Nyong’o in Cinderella inspired gown. Her real life story may not be similar to Cinderella’s but the gown she wore during the 86th Academy Awards was a dead ringer to the all-time favorite fairy tale princess’ blue ball gown with matching headband.

Elle Fanning in Princess Aurora inspired gown. In the recently released Disney film Maleficent, the younger Fanning plays young Princess Aurora. On the movie’s premiere night, she wore Sleeping Beauty’s signature off shoulder blue gown. Her blonde hair made her this age’s version of the famous fairy tale princess who pricked her royal finger and dozed off for years.

Selena Gomez in Pocahontas inspired dress. Miss Gomez wore a modern version of Pocahontas’ dress at the MTV Movie Awards. Her version was in a sequined, tan, fringes, also a minidress, but definitely not made of animal skin. The royal elegance of her total ensemble was there reminding people of the Native American Disney Princess.

Jennifer Lawrence in a gorgeous mess similar to Princess Ariel’s. Although JLaw didn’t copy any royal dress worn by the Little Mermaid in two of her animated films, she did wear Dior’s gorgeous and modern version of the first ever dress Princess Ariel wore when she first walked on land. The Disney Princess’ dress was a combination of torn ship sail and nautical rope and JLaw’s rendition was of course made from the finest fabrics.
