Making new friends is very easy. That was when you were still in high school or in college. But now that you are in your mid or late 20s, you get soaked up in your work and you find it hard to meet and mingle with strangers to turn them into friends. One of the best ways to make new friends in your 20s is to throw a mixer party. The main idea of this party is to invite friends and let them bring someone else you don’t know yet.
The preparation
Think of fondues. It is an afternoon party; you don’t want guests to eat meals. You just want food that they can pick and still be able to rub shoulders with each other. You can buy plenty of cheese, white bread and wine. You do not have to decorate your house too much, because it is not a birthday party or a baby shower. Just make sure you clean your house, especially the bathroom. Don’t forget to cut off the dried leaves off your house’s ornaments.
Picking your guest
Bring in some of your closest friends. You can also bring friends you have met in your workplace or in social media sites. You can also bring some of your old friends in high school or in college. Don’t think about friends that can bring potential love interest in your life, because you are looking for friendly relationships, not a boyfriend or a girlfriend.
Rubbing shoulders
Don’t worry about awkward situations; your guests and the people you don’t know they brought along will later on be confident with the help of the wine. You will be sharing small talks about everyday life with your new friends. But this does not necessarily mean boring topics. As long as there is a bit of alcohol in the system, anecdotes will always be delivered interestingly. Ask for as much phone numbers and social media accounts from your new friends. Don’t let people keep on holding on to their smartphones and android phones though. Cigarettes are better than phones in social events.
This can give you a great experience to make new friends. The new friends that your old friends will bring are somehow easy to relate, because you will all be “birds of the same feather.” If you are a girl, it would be great to bring female friends so that it will be easier to talk to each other and there will be plenty of interesting confessionals.
Now that you have new friends, and you have their number or social media account names, meet them again next week.
