Carrie Underwood dominates 2014 CMT Music Awards

For the third time in a row, Carrie Underwood won the CMT Music Awards’ Video of the Year, which is the events top honor.

It is the fifth time that the former “American Idol” champion won the award.

The 2014 CMT Music Awards was held at Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena Wednesday filled with the biggest names in the country music genre. Kristen Bell hosted the awards show.

Before accepting the award, the multi-platinum winning country music artist performed “Somethin’ Bad,” which is her duet track with Miranda Lambert.

That night, Lambert won Female Video of the Year for her song “Automatic.” Meanwhile her husband Blake Shelton, who is also one of “The Voice” coach, won the male category for that award with his song “Doin’ What She Likes.” Shelton is definitely proud of her “The Voice” apprentice, Cassadee Pope, who won Breakthrough Video of the Year for her song “Wasting All These Tears.”

Florida Georgia Line is one of the winners in the awards show bagging two awards including Duo of the Year for her song “Round Here” as well as Collaborative Video of the Year alongside Luke Bryan for their track “This Is How We Roll.”

The CMT Performance of the Year Awards goes to Bryan and Lionel Richie for their song “Oh No/All Night Long.”

But the night could not be complete without the wonderful performances of some of the most popular country musicians.

Florida Georgia Line performed “This is How We Roll,” which was mashed up with “Talk Dirty” alongside Bryan and Jason Derulo. John Legend, Hunter Hyes, and Jennifer Nettles serenaded the crowd with their version of “All of Me.” Kacey Musgraves performed a tribute song to Alan Jackson, who was honoured during the night for his 25 years as a country musician.
