Cystic fibrosis receives a blow every time the NFL Hall of Famer Ray Guy gives support to help in its fight and also raise funds for research for children living in Mississippi.
He will be serving as the grand marshal on Saturday for the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides/5K Run for Breath and Silent Auction occasions.
This will be the third for the football legend ever since 1990 and will be in the company of men of Delta Tau Delta in the battle against cystic fibrosis, a disease that the first president of the local chapter suffered during his early life.
Guy was poked at by a panel of celebrities when he first took part in the roast. Among the celebrity panelist include Jim Finks, Walter Payton, Hanford Dixon, John Cox, and P.W. Underwood. Most recently, Guy was serving at the Delt’s Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge as well as Great Strides honorary referee. The fibrosis research got a financial boost after the event raised thousands of dollars.
Anyone willing to participate in the Saturday’s 5K event can register from 7 a.m. in front of the Payne Center at the University of Southern Mississippi’ Hattiesburg campus.
