Before Germany took on Argentina for the 2014 World Cup final, Shakira entertained the fans during the closing ceremony at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro with her sexy Samba performance of La La La (Brazil 2014).
It is the third consecutive time that Shakira performed at the World Cup. It seems like she is the champion when it comes to World Cup performances. She performed her number along with Carlinhos Brown, who is the home favourite.
Along with Shakira in Sunday’s World Cup closing ceremony were legendary Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo, Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana and a samba school in energy filled musical presentation.
The closing ceremony started half an hour before the historical game started. Ultimately after 120 minutes Germany emerged as the champions against Argentina 1-0 with German sub Mario Götze scoring the goal late in the 113thg minute.
Besides Shakira’s “La La La (Brazil 2014),” Dar um Jeito (We Will Find a Way) was also performed by Santana along with Haitian hip-hop music artist Wyclef Jean alongside Brazilian singer Alexandre Pires.
During the World Cup opening ceremony, Puerto Rican-American music superstar Jennifer Lopez along with rapper Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte raised the spirits of the fans during their live performance of We are One (Ole Ola).
Besides football, music is another very important factor that raises the pulses of World Cup fans. And it seems that this year’s official anthem is raising pulses, but in a wrong way. It seems like fans are favouring Shakira’s “La La La” over Pitbull and J. Lo’s “We Are One”.
A lot of fans think that “We Are One” is just another generic pop song and it didn’t really pulled off what the World Cup is about, especially that it is held in Brazil, a music rich country.
