Just 265 miles of range on a single charge? Meh. That’s precisely what the people at Audi could be saying for the Tesla Model S and its expected range. As the German automaker states that the next iteration of the R8 E-Tron might go 450 kilometers on a charge, or around 281 kilometers. This idea comes from Automotive News, which cites a production from Audi technology Chief Ulrich Hackenberg at the company’s annual press meeting.
The reality that the car may soon be available “upon request” is newscast. The information was thought to be shelved until news came out a year ago announcing that Audi discovered a way to improve its lithium-ion battery power technology to double its range. Audi spokesman Brad Stertz declared the company wasn’t disclosing information that relates to if or when the car might reach North America or simply how much it might cost but he would say it seemed notable that the project was back on track .
Audi introduced news in the summer of 2012 when the R8 E-Tron set the “series production electric car” speed record with a 8:09 .099 minute-time at Nürburgring thanks to an improved high speed of more than 155 kilometers per hour.
