The US Company announce this morning that it has partnered with the Swiss pharmaceutical firm Novartis to develop smart contact lenses that will measure the glucose levels in glass wearer’s.
These lenses were first revealed in January 2014. It has sensors sandwiched between two soft layers that measure the glucose levels in the wearer’s tears that transmit the information to smartphones which are connected wirelessly.
Google said that it hoped the latest technology will help diabetic patients all around the world by removing the need to perform painful blood tests on regular basis.
The company also hopes that combination of Google’s expertise in miniaturized technology with its manufactured resources to create contact lenses that help restoration of eye’s natural autofocus on near objects.
According to Novartis, this will help manage diabetes as well as its modification will help people suffering from vision loss caused due to ageing.
