So many reports about a possible “iPad Pro” emerged over the past few months, but so far there has been no evidence that Apple was working on such a project.
We now have a new report from Macotakara claiming that Apple’s upcoming Surface Pro 3 competitor will have a 12.2-inch display. This is conflicting with earlier reports from Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal.
This device is a clear response to Microsoft’s tablet/laptop hybrid, but with an emphasis on landscape usage for productivity.
iPad Pro will most likely be laid out like the current iPad Air 2, with a Lighting connector, Touch ID and a front-facing camera all in he same position.
However, the chassis will resemble the rumored Apple’s Quanta-built MacBook Air which will sport a Retina display.
From the information gathered so far, the device will sport a 12.9-inch display. Apple is definitely prepping an iPad Pro model. Macotakara says when it does launch sometimes in 2015, it will be thinner than the iPhone 6 Plus and will have speakers on both the bottom and the top to improve its audio performance.
The reports have revealed plenty of hardware possibilities but will are still at sea how it will handle software. We are not sure whether it will run iOS 8 or something more powerful than that. There are chances that it will fall into that category since there is already a ton of great productivity software available for iPad. But Apple may surprise us with something different.
Apple has said it has no plans to merge the iOS and OS X experience so seeing some sort of hybrid is out of question.
iPad Pro was expected to be released at the end of this year but the release date has been pushed to early next year, may be around the same time that the company will launch its iWatch.
