Samsung surprised a lot of fans when they announced the Galaxy S5 would come with a 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a few other last-generation specs.
We have heard this has been done to make the Galaxy S5 Prime standout more, although we cannot help but think the Galaxy S5 should not be overshadowed by any smartphone, especially not a niche model for higher-end buyers.
Samsung might be keeping the very top-end for the Galaxy Note 4, their second flagship for the second half of 2014. The Galaxy Note line is not as big in sales as the Galaxy S, but it manages a few million every year.
According to recent rumors, the Galaxy Note 4 will come a 2K display or 2560 x 1440 resolution to be exact. This would come on a 5.7-inch screen, the same as the Galaxy Note 3, large enough for fans of previous phablets from Samsung.
Interestingly, other rumors say the Galaxy Note 4 will come with a three sided YOUM display, capable of making the screen display at wide viewing angles and offering small curves to each side of the screen.
YOUM is an impressive technology if a tad pointless, we would like to see Samsung try it out and the Galaxy Note 4 might be the best device to do that, since a lot of the users are tech enthusiasts who crave the top-end package.
Speaking of top-end, the internals in the Galaxy Note 4 should be a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a huge battery, capable of powering a beastly device for over a day.
We will not see the Galaxy Note 4 till IFA 2014 in September, this is when all Galaxy Note devices are announced and has become tradition for Samsung to announce the device at that event. We do not believe Samsung will move away from this event or announce the device early.
