The Facebook CEO,Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday that Facebook would withdraw its email service due to its unpopularity among Facebook users.
In a statement, the largest social networking channel said that it would like to focus on its mobile messaging service on which its been working from long and would pull back on it’s email services which had started about three years back and which never really made an impact.
The change is likely to happen in March 2014.Those having a Facebook email account would get the update from Facebook on the primary email address registered with Facebook.
The email address appeared as messages to Facebook users, never got popular.Facebook got a lot of negative feedback from its users when it tried to make the messages as the default email accounts for all the Facebook users.
With the growing Whatsapp popularity, Facebook is also focusing on new mobile messaging services.
