The international electronics trade show winds up in Berlin with a number of tech products having been shown. We have selected some here from Sony, Samsung and others that we feel were outstanding at this biggest European gadget fair.
Sony Xperia Z devices
Sony took this opportunity to show off the new Xperia Z3 range including an 8-inch tablet and two smartphones – 4.6-inch and 5.2-inch. These will go on sale in October. The three devices are NFC-compatible.
Nokia Lumia 830
Nokia unveiled the Lumia 830 which is a new mid-range Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone having a 5.1-inch screen. The Lumia 830 will launch in Europe this October.
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
This was the most innovative smartphone at the IFA 2014. It has a curved screen that extends around the right-hand edge offering an extra panel when it is in standby mode. It will be available in select markets before the end of this year.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung revealed this latest edition of its Galaxy Note phablet. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 brags a 5.7-inch QHD screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This gadget was paired with a virtual reality headset and dedicated stylus pen which is designed by Montblanc. The gear VR is expected to sell for less than €200.
This is Asus’ first wearable device. It is has an elegant and discreet design and is equipped with a heart-rate monitor. It is expected to go on sale before the end of this year.
LG G Watch R
This watch stands out for its circular 1.3-inch screen. It is waterproof for up to 30 minutes and is able to give notifications of incoming texts, calls and even upcoming appointments.
Other devices that caught people’s attention include the Dyson 360 Eye, a robotic vacuum cleaner, Samsung Gear VR, and Samsung Gear S.
