In the 2014 World Cup, Germany crushed Brazil into smithereens 1-7, and they didn’t leave a room for Lionel Messi and the whole Argentina team to score in the final match.
Yes, they are the champions and it would be great to go to Germany right now and celebrate with them. But besides watching Bayern Munich play at the Allianz Arena, there are many other wonderful reasons to visit Germany. After the catastrophe that was World War II, Germany has picked them up from Reich to riches and has prospered into a well-developed country.
Here are the major reasons to go to Germany, besides the most recent reason, which is the World Cup:
Beer. Go to Munich and have a taste of Germany’s excellent beer like Kolsch in Cologne, and smoked beers in Bamberg. Every city and town there has its own specialty beer and you can go to the German beer garden during the summer.
Progress Through Technology. Vorsprung durch Technik is the major slogan of German car manufacturer Audi. It can be used by the nation because this is where BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Volkswagen also originate. There are plenty of museums in Germany that shows you a rich history of their technology, especially when it comes to cars.
Brot (Bread). German gastronomy is amazing, but its creative and innovative baking puts it on the map.
Mountains. Germany is home to technology and advancing cities, but its mountains and the Alps also beckon foreign tourists. Some of the highlights are Harz, Lake Constance, Fünfseenland and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Mad King. It seems like not only Westeros had a mad king. In Germany “Mad” King Ludwig was declared insane because he likes to build enchanting castles that came straight out of the fairy tale book, like Neuschwanstein, Herrenchiemsee, and Linderhof.
Glühwein. This warm red wine, which is sweetened and mixed with cinnamon and cloves, is not for everybody’s taste palates, but it is definitely a wine you must try.
Music. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s composition. Germany has a rich music heritage, which you can experience in Bayreuth and Schleswig-Holstein.
Beach. Kühlungsborn and Heiligendamm are just some of the beautiful resorts in the long coastlines of Germany.
Party. It’s great to tanz (dance) in Germany with all the amazing party and clubbing destinations that rose up after the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago.
