Below are three activities that you just can’t miss when you go to British Columbia!
Festival OF Whales!
Whale watching is a popular activity in the Vancouver island, being so close to the Pacific a wide range of tours are offered from and to the coast of Vancouver Island. Whale enthusiasts eagerly wait for the month of March when the Pacific Rim Whale Festival commences and takes place throughout Tofino, Ucluelet and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The Grey whales travel all the way from Mexico’s Baja Peninsula to the Bering Sea which is rough total of about 13,000km and the number of whales that takes part in the festival is over 20,000! Other than this there’s a lot more to see in Vancouver, like you can go on a whale tour that’s held all-round the year to see the magnificent creatures up close!
Trekking on Vancouver Island
If you love hiking then this place is for you. The West Coast Trail gives an unforgettable hiking experience with the scenic landscape that adds to its thrill. The place was previously used by ship-wrecked mariners. The stretch is as long as 75km that’s spread across the southwestern edge of the island and is recommended only for professional trekkers and is a big no no for the beginners as the trekking takes place for a long time say four to six days and is a bit of challenge. During trekking you will witness some breathtaking landscapes for sure such as the beaches, rickety ladders and what not! It’s considered to be one of the most challenging hikes in North America and one that’s most sought after.
Have a Wine Tour Around Thompson Okanagan
If you are someone whose first love in drinks is wine then going to The Thompson Okanagan becomes imperative. There you get about 120 wineries spread across the region. The award winning wine, Mission Hill which bagged the award at Decanter World Wide Awards 2013 also is available here. Tourist can view the place either by going on a bike tour or can take up self-guided tours. Thompson Okanagan makes the wine even better with its stunning lake side scenery and makes it the most favored destination amongst the tourists particularly the wine lovers and for any foodie for that matter.
Hope your trip to Columbia becomes a cherishing experience!
